Don't Know What You've Got Til It's Gone (Redux)

Our home AC is being replaced today. We're broke and can't go on vacation, but our house will be cool again. We've had problems with it for 2 years. I am honestly over the money. I just want a working system. Our living room hasn't been below 78 degrees since...

My last day of teaching for this summer was yesterday. I hope I wasn't as difficult a student as these have been for me when I was working on my MBA.

We've been living in my parents' guest room all week. The kids call it "camping" because they are on a blow up bed. Too cute.

On my birthday, the quote on my calendar was:

"You've gotta be original, because if you're like someone else, what do they need you for?"

That Thing You Do

This idea is from Jan's blog:

The idea: create a fake band and their first album. Here’s how it works:

  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random The first article title on the page is the name of your band.
  2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3 The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
  3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/ The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. Editor’s note: Make sure that the image is properly licensed for remixing or derivative works.

Here's how mine turned out. :)

Too Much Information (The Police)

I found this on WordSpy.com. I totally get how this guy feels. I don't think Dena reads my blog, but she would get a kick out of this too... :)

e-mail bankruptcy n. The state of being unable or unwilling to read and respond to all the e-mail messages one has received, and so to delete those message and start over again.

Example Citation: Last month, venture capitalist Fred Wilson drew a lot of attention on the Internet when he declared a 21st century kind of bankruptcy. In a posting on his blog about technology, Wilson announced he was giving up on responding to all the e-mail piled up in his inbox.

"I am so far behind on e-mail that I am declaring bankruptcy," he wrote. "If you've sent me an e-mail (and you aren't my wife, partner, or colleague), you might want to send it again. I am starting over."

Been there, haven't done that. Yet...

Don't Know What Ya Got Til It's Gone...

So, you know I posted about my junk mail. It crossed 1,000 on 1/27/07.

5 weeks later:

I've been waiting for it to cross 2,500. I think I'll empty it now and start over.

Of course, the 220 in my GMAIL account are approx. 90% junk.

I don't have enough time to read the emails I want. Who has the time to send out all these emails? I can tell you they aren't stay-at-home moms. 'Nough said.

Do you ever wonder?

What's in a name? Especially a weird one that can't be found anywhere on anything. Except those new ornament places that do it while you wait. I love that. I bought 2 this year.

I found this on a random website. I was thinking about my new niece and what her name might be.

It's some site that eventually tries to get you to buy a report about your first and last name, blah blah blah. Here was the free version of my first name analysis:
  • Though the name Jeanise creates the urge to understand and help people, we draw to your attention that it causes an emotional intensity and sensitivity that is hard to control.
  • Your first name of Jeanise has given you a friendly, likeable nature, and you could excel in artistic, dramatic, and musical expression.
  • With this name, you desire the finer things in life, but you do not always have the resolve and vitality to put forth the effort necessary to fulfil your desires.
  • Your emotional feelings are easily affected and you will always be involved in other people's problems as a result of your overly sympathetic nature.

Sounds about right.

Ice Ice Baby

Yeah, I hate that song. But it's the best I can come up with.

My mom updated her website this week while she was iced in. There are some great pics of the kiddos!!

Mike was out of school Monday, Tuesday, and will be Wednesday because of ice that hit us Friday and over the weekend. It's like a mini vay-kay. I've been able to catch up on some work and we've had some fun family time.

Here's what I found tonight for the next 7 days:

I work at home! Let it snow!!!! :) It would be nice if we had something that Joel could actually PLAY in. He doesn't understand why the snow won't move. I keep telling him it's ice, but he keeps saying, "Look at all the beautiful snow!!!". Oh to have the wonder of a 3 year old again...
